Abstract:Based on the sample of A-share listed companies in China from 2008 to 2018, this paper analyzes and examines how CEO narcissism affects corporate audit fees and its mechanism. The results show that the higher the CEO narcissism, the higher the audit fees of companies, and CEO narcissism mainly affects audit fees by influencing corporate strategic differences. Further research finds that the relationship between CEO narcissism and audit fees is more significant in companies with a lower share of institutional investors and weaker board supervision. The results of the research not only provide a new explanation for the research on the prepositional motivations that affect corporate audit fees, but also supplement and deepen high-level theoretical research from the dimension of personality characteristics.
